Employment Status:  Part Time
Directly Responsible to: Senior Pastor as head of staff & Moderator of Worship Committee


Job Summary:  The Director of Music shall coordinate and bring to completion the music program of the church as it pertains to worship services. They will provide dynamic organ and piano music that contributes to and enhances the worship experience for Sunday morning worship, special services, funerals and weddings.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•    Staffing of the Choirs, Worship team and Bell Choirs and accompanists
•    Scheduling Musical performances of the Choirs, Worship team and Bell Choirs.
•    Confers with the Pastor to present plans for anthems, new worship songs and hymns.
•    Organist/Pianists and Instrumentalists Participation - provide organ and piano music for regular worship services scheduled on Sunday mornings, and supervise any participating instrumentalists.
•    Choirs, Worship Team and Bell Choirs Leadership
•    Selection and purchase of music for the adult choir, worship team and bell choirs
•    Responsible for seeing that there is special music for the worship services during the year
•    Plans the special music during the months of July and August.
•    Other duties as may be assigned regarding worship music or directed by the Pastor

 

Qualifications:

·       Exhibits a commitment to the Orthodox Christian faith

·       Skilled in understanding how music contributes to the flow and meaning of worship

·       Skills in leading worship through organ and piano playing, both for choral and congregational singing, along with instrumental solo pieces

·       Skills in instrumental and choral conducting, in voice development, and in worship planning in coordination with the pastor

·       Excellent organizational and communication skills, and team player

·       Demonstrated ability to play organ and piano

·       Demonstrated ability to accompany choirs and individual musicians

·       Demonstrated experience and ability playing in a worship setting

·       Demonstrated experience and ability playing at weddings and funerals

·       Openness to a wide variety of musical styles

·       Clear concept of being an integral part of the ministerial team

Hours & Compensation:

Works Hours:  To be Determined
Compensation: $25,000
